Recently we were shocked to find out the heartless ragging by a bunch of seniors to a junior by forcing him to ate excrements and sewer water as well as beaten him up senselessly. The torture is comparison to the Abu Ghraib debacles even worse it's done by supposedly our pride and future protector the people from the Armed Forces. It's known there's an alterior motives behind every ragging whether it's to get information from someone or because of jealousy as in the case of most Malaysian ragging reported but most went unreported as the superior wants to protect the image of the institution itself.   

Ragging culture had been here all the time even at Malaysian boarding school ragging and bullying had been the norm when I was at the STAR I also experience some form of ragging myself. The seniors there feel that they need to performed the ritual of ragging as an early initiation as well as to release their anger after all they had been ragged previously by their own seniors. So the cycle continues and as we know it some had even died because of the results of ragging.

The people who performed the ragging perhaps need to get close to the religion and god because the act of ragging apart from being the act of violance is also wortless and a wastage of the government resources. The raggers are a bunch of cowards afraid of the victims being better than themselves or just plain bullies themselves. But we can't blame them entirely the ragging culture had been instil in their mind since the beginning and accepted as a norm in most institutions. It's believe that ragging supposedly to make the victims more discipline and respectable but aggresive ragging could done more harms than good.

As a humanbeing we can't accept the ragging culture but we can't also reject it as a whole light ragging can be useful in teaching the victims about humality and being a better personality.
