Coaching Blunder Edition # 3: Weeks 2 and 3 ![]() Sorry for the lapse in updating on the blog. The rigors of work, and the demands of a normal sex life have kept me from spending the time on the blog that some members of this league seem to expect from me. I guess they have a little more time on their hands than I do. Since this is coming late, I will keep the update as crisp as possible so that I may be able to update the blog again following tonights game. That being said here are my picks for Coaching Blunder of the Week for weeks two and three. First let me say that it was very easy to pick this blunder, as all other teams seemed to make all the right moves to maximize scoring. But the "winner" in week two seems to be making a habit of bad coaching decisions. Coach Brent Kempema has made no friends in the league this season with his management style, promising to use his dubiously obtained stable of backs as a bludgeon whenever possible; as well as making some questionable pick-ups to tighten his stranglehold on running backs in the league. Unfortunately for the Wolverines, the injury bug has held them from being able to start the self titled "Legendary Four Horsemen." I haven't seen any pestilence, destruction or death on the wolverines roster; so far it has just been a lot of famine in the points department. Except for week two when Cleveland running back Jamal Lewis helped him self to a large serving of points, enough to give the Wolverines their first victory of the year. But Jamal apartly had time to gobble up all of those points as he was sitting on the Wolverines bench, leading to an embarassing two point loss to the Rebeldogs and an 0-2 record to start the season. For these reasons I am awarding the Coaching Blunder of Week 2 to coach Brent Kempema. It will be delivered by the "Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse" and new Wolverine's team member "Incompetence."
Moving on to Week Three. Another easy choice, as nine of the ten teams made the right choices to get as many points as they could. But one team left enough on the bench to cost them a win. Despite his smack talk inviting notorious Raider Nation member and league newcomer Coach Mike Youngberg to his "Black Hole," Coach Jeremy Lund failed to capitalize on the 10 point contribution from Philidelphia RB Correl Buckhalter in favor of Houston RB and octagenarian Ahman Green. With this unfortunate oversite, Coach Youngberg bypassed Lund's "Black Hole" and went straight for his "Brown Hole." Pounding Semper Fi into submission with a 4-point loss and an 0-3 start to the season. For all this and more, the Coaching Blunder of Week Three is sent off to Semper Fi HQ along with a Hemmorrhoid Donut for the chair in Coach Lund's Office. Not quite as crisp as what I thought it would be when I started writing, but sometimes (like a 3-0 team) you just end up on a roll. Good Luck to all the teams this week, and keep watching this space. Because even you could win Coaching Blunder of the Week. 2007-10-01 15:37:49 GMT
