We will have information on the Pierre Fantasy Football League, Miking's News, and Coaching Blunder of the Week
Coaching Blunder Edition #2: Kick-Off Weekend.

There were blunders abound on the fields of the Pierre Fantasy Football League this week, as we had our first match-ups of the year; and the Sports Report is here to put them all in perspective for you.  Here are the nominees for Coaching Blunder of the Week:

Nominee #1:  The WolverinesCoach Kempema has been quite full of himself this year because of the running back corps he managed to aquire due to a late season trade.  Although he was quite bragadocious this pre-season, it looks like he may have been looking at the wrong back.  Coach Kempema has been especially hot for Steven Jackson as his stud running back, but this week he should have given the nod to Chris Brown for a difference of 15 points.  However, this nominee won't be getting the final nod as it would have made no difference in the final outcome of the game.  It seems that the Wolverines were the grass and the Mikings were the lawnmower.  And there was nothing that Coach Kempema could do about it.

Nominee #2:  Semper Fi.  In one of the PFFL's most classic rivalries, The Bandikoots matched up with Semper Fi.  These two have been at each other's throats since draft night, and it was one of the most exciting games to watch this weekend; not decided until late Monday' night.  Semper Fi clung to a slim lead until Edgerin James plowed into the endzone, giving Coach Bothun the victory.  Reviewing the bench shows that Coach Lund would have slept a little easier if he had played WR Bernard Berrian and TE Heath Miller instead of WR Lee Evans and TE Chris Cooley; costing him the victory and bragging rights until at least mid-season.

Nominee #3:  Green Lantern.  Every one pays closer attention to you when your the league points champion, and this year that is the Green Lantern.  Chocolate Jon Jon made the steal of the draft this year, and apparently even he didn't know it when he chose to start Matt Lienert instead of the often maligned Eli Manning.  Jon paid for it when Eli made a nearly career performance that along with benching Thomas Jones in favor of Hines Ward would have given him a victory over the new major leaguers Minor Destruction.  Hopefully they will be able to adjust before next week.

And the Winner of Coaching Blunder of the Week is:

Chad Hienrich and the Chochkies.  Despite managing to win rather convincingly over the RebelDogs by 23 points, bringing up the rear of the week one winners in 5th place; Chad managed to squander what could have been a firm lock on first place.  With a quarafecta of mistakes that ranged the nation, Chad had the potential to score over 140 points; but instead settled for a paltry 94.  And since it is obvious that he will not be winning the Smacktalk Award with some of the weakest smack ever talked in any league, including elementary school leagues (I hope that McGahee and Burress can deliver?)  It is only fair that CHad takes home the Blunder Award this week.  Here are the mistakes that won Chad this honor:

Starter:                               Bench:                          Point Difference:

Arizona Defense                  Minnesota Defense        26                                     Jerry Porter (WR)               Jericho Cotchery(WR)   3                                       Julius Norwood (RB)           Warrick Dunn (RB)       2                                       Chester Taylor (RB)            Drew Carter (WR)         12                                     Fred Taylor(RB)                 Derrick Mason(WR)       6

Chad Score: 94 in 5th place  Potential Score: 143 in 1st place

I hope that the Chochkies can get their act together in both the scoring and smacking arenas before too much of the season is lost.  Good Luck to all the teams and be watching next week for the Coaching Blunder of the Week.

Winning isn't everything. I won more than anyone last year, and I didn't get jack. You need points in this league. But I still have the trophy in the case at Fort Pierre Motors Stadium.
