African Drums
I was listening to the radio tonight on my way home. Minnesota Public Radio was having a facinating piece where they were talking to an African drummer, who was, in a sense, a shaman. He helped send others (willing individuals) into trances so they could communicate with their ancestors, by drumming while they danced. It sounded amazing, and when he played a sample, I could feel the desire to dance, clap, move, anything, along with it. I love music like that. Music that can inspire someone so. If you want to find it, it was on at 9:00 pm central time, Friday May 4th on a program called "The Story". If you go to mpr.org you can probably find it. I looked it up while it was still going, so I hope it's still available later. If anyone knows more about this, or can direct me to a good cd of this sort of music (though live will probably always be better), I'd love to hear about it.
