This I Believe
I believe there is one god who created all things. I believe that because this god created all things, there is a piece, infinitely both large and tiny, in every created thing. I believe that all things should be respected as having a part of the creator god in them.
I believe that god knows more about we poor humans that we could ever know about ourselves. I believe god understands that we are far from perfect, and still learning, and so god forgives us when we call god by different names, and break god down to better understand god. I believe this is much like an adult answering to a nickname a child's given them because they can't properly say the adult's name.
I believe in the Wiccan Rede: "Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An it harm none, do what ye will." This does not mean we can do whatever we want. This means that, if you consider your actions carefully, and they will result in a minimum of harm, or lessening of harm to be done, then it is ok to go ahead with them.
I believe in the Rule of Three. Whatever you do comes back to you three-fold. If you harm someone, then three times as much harm will come to you. If you help someone, then three times as much help will come to you. We can't or don't always think of the consequences of our actions, as the Rede would require. If we don't, and we cause harm, then harm will come to us. If we learn and try to do less harm in the future, that's excelent. If we don't learn, and don't change, then we deserve what god brings upon us. However, it is never our duty to inflict the consequential harm on another. That will only bring more harm upon us. Let god handle it.
This is what I belive. It is not set in stone. It is mutable, shifting, but only with reason. Only with purpose. I will not change my beliefs to fit someone else's idea of what I should believe. I will, however, happily, joyfully, discuss my beliefs with anyone who will give me an open ear and an open mind.
