"With words and memories, we'll always live longer."

Some of the books that I have read and inspiring me to do better in my life. Hope it works for everyone else too. :)

Stories for Rainy Days by Naela Ali

"In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. If it's meant to be, things will be just great.. eventually." - pg. 195

This book is a type of light reading that you can enjoy with your favorite snacks. Most of the story are quite cheesy for me, it's like peeking into someone's personal diary but I really like the illustration. It's cool and instagrammable.

Tabula Rasa by Ratih Kumala

Oh and by the way, she's Eka Kurniawan's wife and this is her first book.

Yang Sulit Dimengerti Adalah Perempuan by Fitrawan Umar

"...pada dasarnya perempuan punya watak pelupa jika telah mendapatkan cinta lain yang membuatnya nyaman berlindung di dalamnya." - ms. 235

Eat, pray, love by Elizabeth Gilbert

"But you must stop looking at the world through your head. You must look through your heart, instead. That way, you will know God.” - pg.28

When we look at the world with our heads, we think we are seeing it the same as if we were looking with our hearts. But our heads are always using the filtering system of "what if", "that can’t be true" or "why should I see things their way?" Filtering is good sometimes, it can serve a purpose but don’t you trust your heart too?

Sad Girls by Lang Leav

"I don't think all writers are sad. I think it's the other way around - all sad people write. It's a form of catharsis, a way of working through things that feel unresolved, like undoing a knot. People who are prone to sadness are more likely to pick up a pen. And because they do, some will inevitably end up as writers." (pg. 142)

Men Without Women by Haruki Murakami

"I forgot all about him once I graduated. So quickly and easily, it was weird. What was it about him that had made the seventeen-year-old me fall so hard? Try as I might, I couldn’t remember. Life is strange, isn’t it? You can be totally entranced by something one minute, be willing to sacrifice everything to make it yours, but then a little time passes, or your perspective changes a bit, and all of a sudden you’re shocked at how its glow has faded. What was I looking at? You wonder." - pg. 142; Scheherazade.

I give 8/10 for this book. It's much better than his other short fiction book, Birthday Stories. There are seven stories inside but my most favourite is An Independent Organ, a story about Dr. Tokai who died because of lovesick. Kinda tragic but beautiful.

Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami

"When something bothered me, I didn’t talk with anyone about it. I thought it over all by myself, came to a conclusion, and took action alone. Not that I really felt lonely. I thought that’s just the way things are. Human beings, in the final analysis, have to survive on their own." (pg. 213)

Sputnik Sweetheart is a story about unrequited love. It would forever be linked in my mind with an aching kind of loneliness. Like losing something you thought you owned and then realising it was never really yours. The story was amazing and beautifully written. It perfectly captured life and all the associated emotions.

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami

"Is it possible, in the final analysis, for one human being to achieve perfect understanding of another?
We can invest enormous time and energy in serious efforts to know another person, but in the end, how close can we come to that person's essence? We convince ourselves that we know the other person well, but do we really know anything important about anyone?" - pg. 24.

The best quote that could sum up the whole story.

Stoicisme by Mat Luthfi

Stoic (n) - Being stoic is being calm and almost without any emotion. When you're stoic, you don't show what you're feeling and you also accept whatever is happening.

Mat Luthfi is a genius.
