Introduction
The large ocean-going yacht has long held center stage as the ultimate in personal pleasure craft. Far-ranging, boasting multi decks, sumptuous guest quarters, spacious salons and a host of other amenities, it symbolises the epitome of luxury afloat. Yet simply put, today's great yachts are dinosaurs from the past century – the end product of an evolution which began two hundred years ago with the introduction of steam power to marine transport.

Twenty-first century technology now makes feasible a new species of pleasure craft – a veritable sovereign of the skies – in the form of a rigid airship. Incorporating every amenity of a surface ship, it will add a further dimension to yachting in terms of versatility, extended range, greater speed, spaciousness, and a level of comfort attainable in no other mode of travel. Not restricted to the world's sealanes, it may range at will over oceans and land masses alike, bridging continents in under forty hours; exploring remote regions of the earth's surface; cruising for days at a time in splendid isolation. Electrically-driven, it will provide its passengers with silent, vibrationless, unerringly steady flight on any expedition to which its course is set.

Though eminently feasible in this era of advanced technology, the vessel here envisioned has yet to be realised, only because no construction of large lighter-than-air craft has been undertaken in over six decades. Thus a challenging opportunity presents itself: to effect a dramatic return of the airship in the role of a sumptuous yacht of the skies, therewith raising the curtain on a further phase of air transportation.
