THE SCHOOL COMES AROUND
By: Judel May Enriquez
Hey everybody, this is Judel and I just wanted to share a little information on that canned run my group did on raising money for Swapna. My group was Amy Wu, Martin Lam, Rea Galang, Onnie Luk, and I. Although they were suppose to have the wagon drive during lunch for that day along with our Key Club run on getting donations for Swapna, they cancelled it on the last minute. But that didn't stop us. We received a cup with Swapna's name glittered on the side from one of the board members and proceeded to try anyways. For the first 10 minutes of lunch, my group and I ran around, asking anybody we happened to run into for spare change that they'd like to donate to our cause. And surprisingly, everybody did contribute. Whether it was spare change from their wallets or a few words wishing us luck, my group and I collected about twenty-one dollars in the end, which is enough to cover Swapna's needs for a whole month. I felt great and exhilirated after that because I'm helping out somebody who can't afford to help herself and the revelation that people you're familiar with along with people you've never met can contribute even a little in their own way for a good cause. A little love and care goes a long way.
