& Frogs

The frogs also come out for summer. There are dozens of frogs living on our verandah. At night they sit on the window sill of the kitchen and catch the bugs which are attracted to the light. In the daytime, they sleep.

Frogs can also be very noisy especially when they croak in the drain pipes when it is raining.

& Goannas

Goanna on a Swamp Oak.

Goannas are big lizards. This one is over one metre long. It is very well camouflaged against the trunk of the swamp oak. Their long sharp claws help them climb the trees and they move very quickly.

& Water Dragons

The water dragon is not just visiting - he lives here but he is so well camouflaged that he is rarely noticed. And he is not one to exert himself. Once he has found a good spot, he barely moves.

& a Lizard

No, it's not a snake in the grass. It has legs so it is a lizard. This lizard has been living in the rainforest garden under the litter. It is probably attracted to the eggs that the chooks insist on laying in the rainforest.
