New
Chickens
Four days ago, two chickens hatched.
I now have 22 chooks living in the Chook Hilton.
On New Years Day in 1994, we
incubated a batch of eggs in the garage. Lots of chickens hatched
and we kept six of them. Una & Veronica were white light sussex,
Wilma & Xanthe were rhode island reds and Yolanda & Zoe
were black langshans. Stella & Teresa, black and white spangled
hamburgs, were soon added to the flock. Of the original eight
chickens, five still survive to comprise the "geriatric flock".
Wilma was really Bill so I hoped for chickens but nobody wanted
to breed.

In 1999, I added more chickens
to the flock, including Barney the red rooster. Since then, 17
chickens have hatched in Clybucca.
