Computer Programming Projects
- Pipe sizing calculation: developed GUI based computer program in Visual BASIC for selection of power cycle pipe sizes. The inputs included Heat and Mass Balance (HBD) parameters, material selection, and design parameters. The program links piping catalogue from manufacturing units. Implemented module for viscosity calculation using data from viscosity tables and graphs.
- Piping Pressure Drop calculation: developed GUI based computer program for calculation of pressure drops in steam and water power cycle pipes and fittings. Interfaced the program with input data from PDMS.
- Optimization of Deaerator Elevation: developed computer program for optimization of Deaerator elevation involving iterations between NPSH requirements of boiler feed pumps and selection of boiler feed suction pipe and fittings. Interfaced it with input data from PDMS.
- Orifice sizing: developed spread sheets for sizing of orifice plate to select orifice diameter and thickness. Regenerated a table of constants C and beta ratio with respect to Reynolds numbers from log charts. Developed a module to calculate materials stress values used in determining orifice plate thickness.
- Calculation of Boiler Parameters: interfaced program with the output files of HBDs generated from KRAWAL to calculates SH Outlet, RH Inlet, RH outlet, and economizer inlet parameters.
- Chimney Sizing: developed computer program to select height and diameter of conical and cylindrical chimneys. The inputs included flue gas flow, dry base or wet base analysis of gases, and exit velocity requirement.
