Some Of The Best

By Les Brinkley

Ever get a day that just stands out? Of course! Well, one of mine happened at Hatteras after a healthy North-Easter. The jetties had swirled sand out and DOWN the beach to a spot in front of a large radio tower...I think it was a Coast Guard tower or something..well anyway, Paul Pearce talked me into going down there to check it out and boy was it something. A sandbar of epic proportions was dumping spitting lefts over a point style configuration that yielded very long tubes that you couldn`t quite outrun. Anyway, it was sheer madness as conditions were perfect for some of the longest tube rides of my life. I think it was around 1970 and I still can`t forget...Hey Rob, howzit going?

Later on, Les Brinkley
