As you well know that the "Queen of the Coast" Rincon is one of the best left
hand point breaks in the
world with an occassional right hand peeler working only a few times of the year at best.
When the right does work however during the mid - summer months while
receiving a strong southerly storm the south swell will produce short sections at best.
Rumors have it that the locals are highly protective of a much overated break of which
most photos released are actually of secret spots much further north. At best the Queen
produces her magic only a few times a year but when she does numerous
undocumented stories fly up and down the coast and throughout the
surfing world.
We were there for two weeks recently and it was flat for ten of those
days and barely a trace of a swell for the remainder of the time. But boy did it used to
break well back in the sixties when we thought it was crowded. We had the place in her
primebut all the good stories are gone as the over zealous crowds have
destroyed hermagic. We wonder why she is still holding on to her title as "Queen of
the Coast."
We think we'll go home - back to Malibu - and ride some real waves with our brothers.
