You Were Never That Tough
I fell asleep with fear last night,
needing to feel your tender touch,
your embrace amidst this cruel plight,
for the voices in my mind ask too much.
I needed your voice to keep me calm.
I needed your arms to fight them off.
I needed your warmth as the beggar needs alms.
But nothing came to my aid; you were never that tough.
