Flowing Leaves

Just as we begin our flight,
you're about to let me leave,
and if you do because you think that's right,
I'll only flow through this river like a leaf.

And leaves float in the currents
through cold and heat and wind,
but they can never return
to where they used to be.

So if you let me go,
please become a summer breeze,
and lead me to a home
filled with your warmth and with my glee.
