On Gilmore Girls, Jared Padalecki's character was named Dean, while on Supernatural his character is named Sam and his brother is named Dean. -Both series star Jensen Ackles and guest star Sarah Shahi appeared in the sixth season of another The WB series, Dawson's Creek, although their characters never shared any scenes together. -This episode premiered on Yahoo! TV on 09/06/2005, a week before its original US broadcast network airing on The WB. -The premiere of the Pilot episode ran an extra 7 minutes (9:00 to 10:07 EST), bringing the total run time to 67 minutes. That was a long time ago, and I've been following it since then. This summer I got my hands on the screener, so I've had an advantage over a lot of other people and didn't have to wait until the series premiere, although I tuned into that, too. The pilot for "Supernatural" is quite possibly the best paranormal-themed show I've ever seen. And that's saying A LOT, because I am a huge fan of genre TV and watch nearly every show of that kind. The pilotis very different than what you'd expect from most projects that The WB does. This is no "Charmed", "Smallville", or "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". This show dares to improve upon them all, with an extremely talented cast and crew. The acting is great and much more realistic and believable than "Charmed", and the script is very well written. The two leads - Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki - have excellent chemistry and it is very easy to believe that they are brothers. The show overall is executed very well, the final product being one of the most impressive hours of horror television I have ever laid eyes upon. And when people say this show is scary, they're right. True, it doesn't TERRIFY you, making it impossible to sleep, but there's both a good mix of "boo" scariness and psychological terror that makes you tense, and that's more than the recent popular horror movies can claim. This episode deals with the true American legend of a "Woman in White", who is a woman who, after discovering that their husband is unfaithful, goes temporarily insane and murder their children, and after they are back to normal and see what they did, commit suicide. They come back as angry spirits and lure unfaithful men to them, where they kill them. From here on out the series will cover ghosts, spirits, demons, and mosnters that are featured in real American folklore and urban legends. If you haven't seen this pilot yet, you have to. My Rating: 10/10 |
