When Fitting Aftermarket Headunits
The vauxhall connector is an ISO connector therefore most headunits
will just plug in. However, as the vauxhall ignition switch does not
have a radio accessory position the new headunit may only work with
the ignition on. If this is the case you may have to cut the red and
black wires and connect them together as they come out the headunit
and connect them to the red wire on the car leaving the black wire disconnected.
JVC have a fuse
in the back of their headunit which can be fitted in 2 positions which
saves you having to do this. Simply remove the fuse and fit in the other
position. You will also require an ariel plug adaptor to convert the
vauxhall connector to the standard connector.
When fitting a non
vauxhall headunit you should connect the brown/purple wire to the chassis
of the headunit. (some have a spade terminal).
Thus if the radio
is stolen this wire is disconnected and the vauxhall alarm sounds.
JVC
JVC believe that the telephone mute should be connected to pin 5 therefore
you can get problems with the headunit muting when you turn the ignition
on. Therefore simply disable the telephone mute facility. If you wish
to use this on your JVC, cut the blue/red wire and connect your telephone
to the blue/red wire going into your JVC headunit
