Youth Ministry Committee, Meeting Minutes

November 7, 2006

 

Present:  Chris Howell, Susan Pierce, Lisa Rosenberg, Helen Welborn

 

AT YOUR SERVICE:  Nathan sent postcards to youth and solicited work projects from other members.  He will organize the projects with contact information, maps, and sign-up sheets for sponsors and youth.  Committee members will bring tools (rakes, etc.) and breakfast items, meeting at the church at 8:30 am on 11/18. 

 

SENIOR HIGH YOUTH CONNECTION:  (“Shy-See”)  This event occurs from January 26 (Friday night) until January 28 (Sunday) as Austin College.  It is held for senior high youth only.  Regular registration begins on December 11, with a 12/15 deadline.  The keynote speaker will be Rick Upford.  Costs include $37 for conference registration and Saturday’s lunch, lodging and food (5 additional meals), and transportation.  The Youth committee will pay for lodging and registration.  One adult sponsor is required for every 8 youth who attend.  Fort Worth Presbyterian has offered to share transportation with us.  Chris will ask Nathan to send out informational postcards to our senior high youth. 

 

ELECTION OF NEW MODERATOR OR CO-MODERATORS:  Mark Replogle was mentioned a possible replacement moderator for our committee, starting in January.  Susan said she would help. 

 

UNFINISHED OR NEW BUSINESS: 

1. Youth are asked to help serve at the Goodland Boys’ dinner. 
2. Susan will call Whirly Ball to inquire about possible outing for all youth on November 26. 
3. Lisa offered to host a fellowship Christmas party at her house on December 17.
