Recorded History Of Orissa goes back to the historic War between Kalinga (Ancient Name of Orissa) and Magadha (Now know as Bihar), when Emporer Ashoka attacked Kalinga. The bloody war consumed many people and changed Ashoka's mind. He took up Budhism and made budhism World Famous.
During 1st Century AD the Emporer Kharabela restored Kalinga's dignity by defeating Madagha. Orissa was then famous for it's wealth and Traders who traded between Asian countries like Indonesia, Thailand.
Orissa has many historical monuments like Khandagiri (Which is a Sacred place for Jain Muni's), World Famous Lord Jagannath Temple, Konark temple and many more. These monuments are standing glory of Orissa's past.
