"What was that about?" Asked Carol, sapphire eyes narrowing suspiciously. He shrugged, and when it seemed he wasn't going to answer, Carol punched his arm.
"Hey! Dat hurt!"
"Good! Now talk!"
Remy rolled his eyes at her. "Deiu, Carol, ain't like it's all important or not'in'. I jus' joked dat Bishop'll have t' come visit when I get married."
Carol's eyes nearly fell out of her head. "Wha-at?! You've seen Rogue for a matter of hours - the last time you saw her she was leaving you to die - and you want to marry her?!" Wide blue eyes stared at him incredulously.
"Dat's about de gist o' it," he told her, then wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Don't worry, Carol, y'll get an invite, too."
She pushed him away, shaking her head. "I don't get you, Remy." She shook her head again. "I don't get men in general, why should you be any different?" She asked, mostly to herself. Remy laughed at her, then rang the bell to Lilandra's quarters. Hearing a voice telling him to come in, he did so, and bowed deeply to his empress. She nodded at him in return.
"You are going now, Remy?" He nodded. She walked over to him, and took his hands in hers. She looked wonderful, Remy thought. As he had hoped, Charles' presence had rejuvenated her, and she looked younger and happier than he had seen her. A shimmering navy gown covered her slim form, accentuating curves, a silver filigree necklace with a large, pinkish gem making her look like the royalty she was. Touching his cheek gently, she spoke. "You have been a good friend, Remy. I shall miss you." She looked into his eyes, and then wrapped her arms around him. "I truly am going to miss you. But I can come and see your daughter?"
"O' course. All de time. More often, even. I'll miss y' too, Lil, an' if y' ever need me, don't hesitate t' call. Y' still m' Empress - an' one o' m' best friends. But I got a home, now. Somethin' I'm not sure I ever did before."
"You have two, Remy. We'll always be here for you." Remy bowed again before leaving. As the two alien Earthers walked down the corridor, Carol looked slyly at Remy. He noticed her, and stared at her.
"What?" She asked, in her best butter-wouldn't-melt voice.
"'Xactly what I was gonna ask you," he muttered, and looked at her, stopping as they got to the door to the airlock, where the X-Men would be waiting for them.
"Nothing, much. You just surprise me."
"How so?"
"You have so many different sides, so many facets of yourself. Like I said, Rogue's found a special person." Leaning forward, Carol kissed him soundly on the lips, then, eyes twinkling, entered the airlock. Remy stared after her, then followed, realising that no matter how many of them he'd meet, he'd never understand women, no matter which planet they were from.
