INTENSIFIERS

DEFINITION

Intensifiers are adverbs or adverbial phrases that strengthen the meaning of other expressions and show emphasis. Words that we commonly use as intensifiers include absolutely, completely, extremely, highly, rather, really, so, too, totally, utterly, very and at all:

TOO 1-Used to emphasise that there is a lot of something is negative from

2-placed in front of adjectives/adverbs

QUITE 1-It´s use to intensify a positive idea

2-you can modify verbs to specify opinions or preferences

VERY 1-Indicates a grater intensify of the adjective or the adverb to wich ai a companies

2-is used when the meaning of the sentence is positive an neutral

PRETTY 1-it´s used in informal context, it´s not used in negative phrases.

2-when modifying a noon preceded by an adjective, the article is placed be fore pretty

SO 1-the particle "so" is used when the previus statenient is an afirmative sentence

2-we use "so" with adjectives or adverbs to show extreme feelings or effects

3-the adjective ar adverb goes directly after "so" in the sentence

the dog was so sad that he died
el perro estaba tan triste que murio

it´s so cold today to freeze me
hace tanto frio hoy para congelarme

my ring was so jammed they cut my finger
