Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the lab
Not a creature was stirring except for the crab.
He looked at the bat cage
With the bats in a rage
And decided to leave
But began to grieve.
Where could I go, the crab asked himself.
When the entire city is covered with snow?
Then he thought of a trick that was very clever,
As long as he could work that lever
Flush!
The crab went down the toilet in quite a rush!
Down the sewer to the water treatment plant.
What other wishes would the world grant?
I want to go home! the little crab cried.
Oh world, please take me there, its shaped like a dome!
Through strainers and filters the little crab went,
Down pipes and cleaners and through a small vent.
Then he was emptied into the river nice and wet
And when he felt the fresh water, he knew he wasnt home yet.
Oh no! Not this place! Not here!
He cried as he fell down the weir.
Then the poor crab bobbed to the surface
And felt quite nervous.
Where am I? the crab cried with fear.
I want to be home! Not over here!
The crab swam and swam for a mile or two,
Having no idea just what he would do.
He swam down stream with a wonderful scheme,
He was going to sleep and going to dream.
He dreamed he was snug and warm in his bed,
With visions of sugarplums floating by his head.
What a wonderful dream! he started to shout.
Then once again, he started to pout.
Im not home yet. I was sure it would work, to sleep and dream
As I floated down stream.
Then he sniffed the water and smiled with glee.
His plan did work! He had just entered the sea!
I dont see a dome, but I cant miss it!
Mama will be so pleased with my visit!
He swam once again with a smile on his face
As the crab kept up a smooth steady pace.
Then he realized he was home right there!
And how stupid hed been he just couldnt bear!
Of course Im home!
Upon my back is my dome!
He snuggled in tight
Until he felt just right.
And as he slept, he felt very content
And off into dreamland he magically went.
When all of a sudden ha awoke and a man with a white beard and red coat
starred down and spoke:
May your dreams be joyous and bright!
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
