"Dreams to Reality", a journal of our
September 2003 Import.
Mid-2002 began a new endeavor for Storeyline Bullmastiffs as
Daron and I recognized the need to bring in some new blood to
compliment and enhance our breeding program. Search as
we may, we were unsuccessful in locating precisely what we
were looking for in both New Zealand and Australia. Having
had our eye on a kennel overseas for some time, we contacted
Sylvia DaSilva from Garroway Bullmastiffs (British Columbia,
CANADA), to discuss her dogs and whether there was any viability
to the idea of either bringing in semen from one of her studs
and/or any other
possibilities. After a duration of involved getting to
know one another, learning more of each others dogs and
breeding programs, ideals and goals, we were pleasantly
surprised that our taste and style of bullmastiffs - along with
our goals - were very similar.
This eventually led to
some light discussion about perhaps the exportation from
Canada into NZ, the lovely bitch, Yana - Cnd Ch Garroway's
Aiyana (photo top right). What was at first a whimsical idea brought
forth by Sylvia - as she was in no hurry to breed Yana in the
coming year due to her busy schedule for the next while - ended
up being one of staggering merit for Daron and I. Sylvia
had not projected breeding Yana herself, until late 2004, and
this "idea" was quickly viewed as a potentially fruitful opportunity for both
parties. Yana
was of age, with extensive health clearances which
include hips, elbows, heart, thyroid, and was certainly of the high
quality we were seeking. Already having a huge
admiration for Yana's sire, "CJ" - BIS BISS Ch Kilroy's
Northern Wrangler (left photo), and after seeing the amazing similarities in his
daughter (Bottom right photo), the idea took off to bring Yana to
New Zealand and
IN WHELP! With much discussion and deliberation, an
agreement was detailed and sealed with a handshake, thus
beginning the journey embarked by all involved. After
a longish and complex process involved in
getting a foreign dog in to NZ.....our persistence and
diligence paid off, and thanks to the generosity and commitment
on the part of Sylvia to entrust her best up and coming bitch
to our care, and making certain everything was in impeccable
order, our "dream" became a "reality" when Yana arrived in
Auckland mid-Sept, safe and sound, and in whelp to our current
babies whom we will introduce on this page. We have many
hopes and plans in the coming year for Yana and her babies, before Yana
returns to Canada - hopefully carrying home a little
"Storeyline Influence" within. Updates will be
posted on this page periodically and we invite you to share in
the progress of this promising litter, as they grow, and begin
their exciting lives with us as the "Canadian Kiwi's"!

Yana arrives to New Zealand and is transported from the airport
to Qualified Pet Services in Auckland, where she spent one month
in quarantine before her release. Ever the trooper, Yana
settled in without a hitch and was visited daily by Lisa and
spoiled rotten with treats and loves. Close attention was
paid to her health, pregnancy, and mental state during her
stay and everything went smoothly and she was released to Lisa
and Daron on October 17/03. She settled in to her new home
environment quickly and immediately felt right at home with her
new people.

October 21, 2003
Four
days after her release from Qualified Pet Services, Yana
gives birth (via elective C-section) to four bouncing, vibrant
babies, on October 21, 2003. (One male and three females,
from fawn to light red-fawn). The sire of these
promising babies is the lovely red boy, RBIS BPISS Ch RoxEdge's
High Fly'N Norton (see photos below), bred by Cheryl Randolph of
Roxedge Bullmastiffs, British Columbia, Canada.
"Norton" was the #1 ranked Canadian-Bred bullmastiff in
2001 and 2002. He is a top of the standard boy boasting
flawless movement, bone, gorgeous head piece with inky black
pigment, and possessing an exuberant, outgoing personality.
His attributes complimented Yana's beautifully, and we can only
hope we see both their qualities shine in their offspring.
