Of course we cannot report about the deaths of all of Geoghan's victims (because there are so many of them), Patrick McSorley is a true hero. A victim of Geoghan's wrath in 1986, he was the first to stand up and courageously accuse the now-defrocked and murdered John Geoghan, now the most notorious pedophile priest of all time. He has been accused of raping upt 150 kids since the 1960's, and 86 different victims were named in lawsuits against him.
McSorley was abused by Geoghan at age 12, when Geoghan visited his family's home to offer condolences on the death of his father. Geoghan then molested him while taking him out for ice cream.
If the estimated 11,000 victims number (since 1950) is true, that means Geoghan is responsible for 1.36% of all rapings by priests.
"Patrick McSorley was a hero, he was a voice in the wilderness for many victims," his lawyer, "He stood up against the church, he stood up against the powers of the church. He was not going to let child abuse be swept under the rug, he was not going to let clergy sexual abuse be swept under the rug."
