On the one year anniversary of John Geoghan's death, we now have speculations about the true number of victims of priestly abuse. CNN has recently reported that based on a draft report by the John Jay Criminal Justice College in New York, an estimated 4,450 priests (out of 110,000) abused 11,000 children from 1950-2002.
The CNN report says that about 4% of all priests since 1950 have raped kids, or one out of every twenty-five.
The notorious pedophile priest John Geoghan raped possibly 150 kids himself. If 11,000 kids were raped since 1950, that means Geoghan is responsible for 1.36% of all rapings by priests.
