| The yellow tang is an ideal reef safe fish. They are very hardy (although susceptible to ich and other diseases), and like to be fed Spirulina flakes, and Nori and macro algae. They can grow up to 6-8 inches if the tank size permits. I love my yellow tang! He is my first fish, and one of the main reasons I wanted to start a saltwater aquairum. Most poeple think tangs should not be housed in small aquariums like mine, and I completely agree, but mine is only and inch and a half, and when he grows beyond 4-5 inches I plan on trading him in for another smaller specimen. Many aquarist have problems with yellow tangs and diseases, such as ich, but mine has been very hardy, and hasn't shown any signs of sickness. He also eats very well. I feed him Spirulina Flakes up to 3 times a day (to get him fat and healthy) and Nori and Macro Algea twice a week for treats. As you can tell by the picture, he is already starting to get a belly buldge. |
