As I beat the demons in a life-threatening fight
I stepped out from the ledge that was the darkness of my life for many years
The place that brought the tears and all of my deepest and darkest fears
It took quite a long time time to conquor, but at last
I have been able to escape the deepness of my darkened past
Friends and love have made me strong
My past is now something that is gone
Years of suffering and pain
Now have ceased just like rain
The man you saw behind all the black
Has fought hard for his life and now he is back
With more love to give
And a brighter life to live
His past shed like the skin of a snake
He's life is going to be lived more awake
He has finally won back control
Like a game winning goal
He will never lose to the demons again
Only grow stronger like an army of men
Now I will be my biggest fan
As I have awoken a better man
This poem was written right after I gave myself a fresh start at life.
