Eagle Forum STATE PAC has endorsed Patrick O'Malley for the Republican nomination for Governor in the March 2002 primary. Phyllis Schlafly and I agree that ALL prolifers should gather behind Senator O'Malley. With our joint effort, momentum will continue to build, and our issues will have a representative in the General Election for Governor 2002.

Eagle Forum STATE PAC will also endorse the candidacy of Jill Stanek in the days to come.

Attached please find a very important editorial published in the Chicago south suburban's local newspaper today. There is NO doubt with the Star who is the PROLIFE conservative gubernatorial candidate. It is NOT Attorney General Jim Ryan. It would be a serious mistake for prolife groups to "dual-endorse" both Patrick O'Malley and Jim Ryan as rumor is that a couple of prolife groups are considering to do. To do so would divide our powerful voting bloc and weaken our state's already struggling fight for the rights of unborn children and their vulnerable mothers.

Even the Star recognizes that we are in a fight for the heart and soul of the Republican party. This is a healthy "family discussion." At least the Republicans have something to discuss on the issue -- the Dems are not allowing such talk within their ranks.

I wonder what history will say about our modern discussion over "the right to abort" ? Will it be similar to the fight for "the right to own slaves" during the 1860's? I, for one, will be proud to tell my grandchildren that I stood for innocent lives -- right beside the men and women running for office who proudly proclaimed that they are on the same side that I am. It's time that we decided who we are going to get behind and do it. No more cowering behind the lines.
