Concerned Women For America Statement on Roe v. Wade
WASHINGTON -- The following was released today by Concerned Women For America:
This Saturday, January 22, marks the 27th year after the Supreme Court decision Roe v.
Wade turned America's legal system hostile to pre-born children. Following are a few of
the consequences of that decision:
Law: Abortion clinics are virtually unregulated, resulting in unsanitary and even lethal
conditions for women. Methods of infanticide, like partial-birth abortion and live-birth
abortions - in which children are delivered early and either killed or left to die from
exposure - are considered an extension of abortion. Any pre-born child that is a victim of
violence in a federal crime has no rights or respect under federal law.
Culture: The abortion mentality, that if a child is not wanted she can be eliminated, has
seeped into our culture. Children born handicapped are left to die, and the disabled and
elderly are mercilessly euthanized, under the fear that they may become a burden (or
"unwanted") by others.
Medicine: Children are now seen as subjects for gruesome experiments as aborted babies'
body parts are used for research. Breast cancer and cervical cancer are proven to be
possible consequences of abortion. However, abortion doctors do not inform women of these
risks, making this the lone procedure for ignoring patients' right-to-know, as well as
violating the Hippocratic oath to "do no harm."
Pro-Life Response: In law, culture and medicine, pro-life groups are working with one goal
in mind - to bring respect, dignity and human rights back to women and children.
On a practical level, over 4,000 pregnancy centers have opened to meet the needs of
pregnant women. They operate without government funding or charging fees. Unlike
profit-motivated abortion clinics, these pregnancy centers to help women with counseling,
material goods, and financial and emotional support free of charge.
Roe v. Wade has damaged every major institution in America by insisting there is a class
of human beings that does not deserve rights. Concerned Women for America is committed to
bringing human rights back to mothers and their babies.
