From Jeffery M. Leving, Fathers' Rights Activist and Attorney
Fathers' Rights
Advocate Health Care is taking an important moral stand in no longer allowing any
abortions to take place at six of its eight Chicago-area hospitals. The remaining two will
only be allowed to perform abortions in cases of rape or incest; a serious medical threat
to the mother; or when the fetus cannot possibly survive.
These hospitals can now possibly provide certain expectant fathers with something that no
court of law may: the ability to be a father even if the expectant mother wants to abort
the unborn child. In many cases, the decision of parenthood is taken out of the hands of
the expectant father, and that life or death decision is left completely within the power
and discretion of the expectant mother.
Expectant fathers ought to have a voice in whether or not their unborn children live or
die. Advocate Health Care is making a significant social statement. There are many
expectant parents in America who unfortunately do not have the desire to give their unborn
children the life and love that they deserve.
However, not allowing a father to do so who is willing to love and provide for his child
can create an even greater injustice. Not only are the unborn child and father cheated,
but so is our society, which is deprived of a life that could have potentially benefitted
mankind.
