"CapitAlert" Life Advocacy Briefing #6-42
Resignation Protests Ongoing Infanticide
A PROMINENT MEMBER OF THE GOVERNING BOARD of "Christ" Hospital in Oak Lawn,
Illinois, has resigned from the panel after a majority of his colleagues refused to reject
an abortion policy promulgated by the medical center's parent Advocate health system.
GOP State Sen. Patrick OâMalley followed through Thursday on his earlier
threat to resign if the Advocate system continued to foster abortion at the formerly
respected Chicago south suburban hospital.
The largely pro-life community around the hospital was shocked this summer to learn from
whistle-blowing nurse Jill Stanek that premature births of babies deemed
"defective" are being induced by "doctors" at the Advocate facility
where she works. After protesting in vain to hospital administrators, the labor/delivery
nurse went public, relating an incident where she had held a tiny baby 45 minutes before
his gasps for breath ended in death.
Three prayer vigils outside the hospital have not yet moved hospital authorities to
repent; another is set for Nov. 13, despite the hospital's largely successful effort to
spin their new policy as one which "limits" abortions. (Life Advocacy has
learned that three abortions have reportedly been committed at the hospital in the past
week, an actual increase in the hospital's abortion traffic.) Sen. O'Malley's resignation,
after four years on the governing council, helps the public discern the deception with
which the hospital is attempting to recover its image.
