Eagle Forum of Illinois "Over 400 Gather at Christ Hospital to Pray for Unborn"
Concerned citizens -- both
Catholic and Protestant -- of the south suburban area gathered on the lawn of Christ
Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL on August 28, 1999. The people gathered to pray for Christ
Hospital administration and their practice of inducing certain babies in the second
trimester to a premature birth, only to face death when medical assistance is withheld.
The prayer vigil was a joint effort of several pastors and priests in the local area. Over
400 people stood respectfully for over 45 minutes as prayers were voiced on behalf of the
babies, their mothers, the hospital administrators and staff, and state legislators.
The prayer vigil clearly indicated the community's concern for hospital policies which
endanger the lives of innocent babies and their poorly-informed mothers. Another vigil is
planned for October 2, if Christ Hospital continues the practice.
Eagle Forum of Illinois encourages citizens who believe Christ Hospital (and other
hospitals) should stop this horrendous practice to attend the October 2 prayer vigil at
Christ Hospital located in Oak Lawn, Illinois, at the intersection of 95th Street and
Kedzie Avenue.
The prayer service will begin at 10:30 am.
