We Tied the Knot on October 6, 2002!
Ceremony Details:
Our ceremony was held on October 6th, 2002 at 4pm at the gardens of the Oldest House, St. Augustine, Florida.
Here's a run-down of the event:
It was a hot, humid October day with nothing but blue skies for miles. There was elegant classical music playing in the background as the guests arrived,
and all were ushered to their seats at 3:45pm by our handsome groomsmen. Steph's mother was escorted by Steve, the cue for Wanda to sing a gorgeous rendition of "The Wedding Song". Then the processional began: First Jocelynn and Jared took the walkway, then Noralynn and Jason. Next came Letty and Dave.
The maid of honor, Susana and the best man, Alex were just before the Bride and her father. Then the music took a dramatic pause as Steph and her father entered the courtyard. They began their walk down the long and winding isle. Oh, how beautiful, but oh how nervous we were! Finally, Steph and Alfred met eye to eye - WOW, our day is here! Then Steph's father gave her away, and
the holy union of these two soulmates began. The vows were beautiful, the rings were exchanged flawlessly. The Filipino Cord and the German Blessing were our families' personal touches. The kiss was right on cue - "I now present to you, for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred and Stephanie Sanalila!" and the Newlyweds
made their way down the isle, arm in arm, and the two are finally one! We did it!!!
Reception Details:
Now for the party...As we took our picture-perfect horse and carriage ride around St. Augustine, our guests were making their way to the cocktail hour at the Sultan's Pavilion on the pool deck of the Casa Monica Hotel. The Grand Ballroom opened at 6pm for everyone to be seated, and we made it just in time after pictures. The guests made their way to sign the guest book, said hello to the newlyweds, grabbed their place card, and awaited the wedding party introduction.
The Father of the Bride said a few words of Thank You and Welcome, then the first dance - "I'll Be" by Edwin McCain, performed by Wanda. Dinner was served and the speeches began. A speech by Steph's aunt Silvia from Germany, then the Best Man's Toast by Alex. The special dances came shortly thereafter: Bride with her father, Groom with his mother, Thank You dances for our Parents and Bridal Party, and then the party began!
We made our way around the room, saying our hellos to far-away friends and family. Finally, time to cut the cake, throw the garter and toss the bouquet. But first, Jocelynn surprised us all with a beautiful, elegant Hawaiian Wedding Dance! All in all, the reception was so much fun that we didn't want it to end!! But at 10:30pm, the bar closed up and the Bride and Groom made their way to the bridal suite. It was beautifully
decorated by Steph's mom and maid of honor, Susana, with rose petals on the bed and special Mr. and Mrs. pillowcases! A Jasmine candle and a personalized wedding night CD made the night more perfect than it already had become. Simply the best day of our lives!Casa Monica Hotel
