Samantha Sue
October 1986 - January 9, 2003
Beloved pet, playmate, mother (to the other cats) and friend

In 1986 my mother found a small black and white kitten sitting on the doorsteps of the place that she worked at. Unable to resist those gorgeous yellow eyes, she brought the little orphan kitty home to me. I was three years old at the time and wanting a kitten more than anything. When my mother brought her home I instantly fell in love with her. My first kitty. I named her Samantha or Sammy for short.

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared, beneath the stars above.
For a moment, all the world was right,

Sammy is the sweetest cat you could have ever met. She hated for me to take bubble baths. She would sit beside the tub and cry for me to get out. She would have made a great mother. She washes and takes care of the other cats. You could do just about anything to her and she wouldn't care as long as you loved her.

How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye?

And now,  I'm glad I didn't know,
The way It all would end,
The way It all would go,
Our lives are better left to chance,
I could have missed the pain,
But I'da had to miss the dance.

For the last couple of months Sammy has been fighting a losing battle against a cancerous tumor on her lip. Today the pain settled in and she told us that it was time to go. At the age of 17 she passed on.

And now, I'm glad I didn't know,
The way It all would end,
The way It all would go,
Our lives are better left to chance,
I could have missed the pain,
But I'da had to miss the dance.

We will miss you Sam, no other kitty will ever be able to fill your place.

It's my life, It's better left to chance,
I could have missed the pain,
But I'da had to miss
The dance
