The Silence of God

The Silence of God

We are told by the inspired apostle Peter that God has "given us all things that pertain to life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3) through the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We are told by the inspired apostle John that to please God we must keep the commandments of Jesus Christ (John 14:15, 23; 1 John 5:3). We are told by the inspired apostle Paul, as well as Peter and John, that the message each one preached was the message revealed to him by God, the message of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:1-10; Galatians 1:11-12; 2 Peter 1; Revelation 1).

Peter warns of false teachers who will try to lead Christians away from the truth of Christ's gospel (2 Peter 2:1-3). John says that "whoever transgresses [goes onward or beyond - M. H.] and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God..." (2 John 9). Paul says that if "we or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed" (Galatians 1:8-9).

Thus, if God is silent on a matter, we must be silent, also, and not think beyond the written Word of Almighty God (1 Corinthians 4:6).
