Growing Older

From the day of our births, we all grow older. Nothing stops this aging process except death.

Briefly consider some things the Bible says about people of various ages:

Children

·         “Of such is the kingdom of heaven” - Matthew 19:13-14

·         Do not have the same capability of understanding that adults have - 1 Corinthians 13:11 & 14:20

·         Expected by God to obey parents - Ephesians 6:1-3; Colossians 3:20

·         Known by good or bad deeds - Proverbs 17:6

Youths & Young Adults

·         “The glory of young men is their strength” - Proverbs 20:29

·         Expected by God to treat others in certain ways - 1 Timothy 5:1-2; 2 Timothy 2:22

·         As with all people, they have been granted freewill to choose whether to  behave wisely or foolishly - Proverbs 1:4-5 & 7:7; Ecclesiastes 11:9 through 12:1; 1 Timothy 4:12

Adults & Middle-Aged Persons

·         Responsibilities of providing physical care for others rests upon them - 1 Timothy 5:4,8

·         Parental responsibilities also must not be taken lightly - Ephesians 6:4 & Colossians 3:21

Older Persons

·         “...and the splendor of old men is their gray head” - Proverbs 20:29

·         God expects serious-minded faithfulness to Him from both men & women - Titus 2:2-3

·         Older women must teach younger women how to live holy lives - Titus 2:3-4
