Procedures for Accepting New Characters

Regular Admittance

Players applying to Star Trek: Distant Horizons must forward a letter of intent to [email protected] at which time they will be asked to submit a character biography.

A vote will be passed on the biography of the character and the admittance of the player. If the player is desired to join, but the character is too much for ST:DH at this time, the player will be asked to resubmit a new character bio with coaching in which ways he/she should direct their character alterations.

Upon acceptance to ST:DH, a player will be assigned a Mentor, this is a senior player who will help them to adapt to our formatting rules as well as integrate into the crew. New players are allowed to voice their concerns regarding an upcoming vote through their Mentor only, they will not be granted a vote until 3 months of outstanding play.

The removal of a new character once integrated into the game initially requires a 60% majority vote. After 3 months of outstanding play a 70% majority vote is required to remove any player from the game.

Sponsorship

If a senior player sponsors a player to join Star Trek: Distant Horizons, and this player has experience writing for similar pbems, voting members of the crew may accept such a player on the basis of his/her recommendation alone, though a bio may be requested if desired. Sponsored players do not require a Mentor, but must wait 3 months before they are able to vote. Said players Sponsor is responsible for integrating the player into the game and coaching them in formatting regulations.

Probationary Acceptance

Should the majority of the crew have reservations about a particular applicant, they may choose to allow a probationary entrance into the game. During any time within this period, should this player demonstrate his/her incapability of blending properly within the game or any overt super-character flaws, a 50% vote of senior players may remove him/her from the game. Any player may call for this vote as a priority Item. A probationary player is assigned a Mentor to help them adapt to our formatting as well as integrate them into the group. A Mentor is also responsible for steering said player in the right direction and toward becoming a permanent and fully functional member of ST:DH. Probationary players do not have a voice for debate regarding an upcoming vote but may submit their concerns to their Mentor who may then bring the issue up in debate if deemed appropriate.

To remove a player from probation, after 3 months a vote will be called. The following options are available:

1- Remove the probationary status.
2- Extend said players probationary period for another 3 months.
3- Remove said player from the game.

A vote of 70% majority is required to remove a player from probation, thus insuring that the majority of the crew is pleased with the players performance. Upon removal from probation, the player is entitled to the same privileges as a newly admitted player.
