Additional Training
* Learned Archaeology / Anthropology from spending years in the field with her father digging up ancient ruins and artefacts. Between digs, learned Alien Communications / Linguistics from her mother, a skill that often came in handy as they discovered new locations and artefacts. Lea spent a full year in SFI prior to her mission within Dominion controlled space during which time she was reacquainted with the expectations and requirements of Intelligence Operations work, while her skills and knowledge in Archaeology / Anthropology and Alien Communications / Linguistics were fine tuned

Her first run through the Academy at the age of 18 granted her a major in Intelligence Operations, a field that intrigued Lea a great deal. During her free time, she also spent a considerable amount of time with one of the professors of Archaeology / Anthropology from whom she increased her knowledge that had been passed on by her father. Because of her apparent love for Archaeology / Anthropology, Lea landed a position on a research vessel following her graduation four years later.
Distinguishing herself over a period of two years, Lea was approached by SFI for a special mission that would make use of her skills. Having accepted the mission on the ground that she would be able to study ruins that no other Federation member had ever laid eyes on, she followed a gruelling one-year course in Intelligence Operations. During that time she was given two sub-dermal implants based on Borg technology to aid her on her mission. The first is an inner ear that acts as a universal translator. The second implant is an interference field generator that allows Lea to become invisible to sensors and scans. The drawback of this item is that prolonged use, that is to say in excess of one hour, requires her to take radiation treatment due to the implant's effect on her cellular structure. After one hour of use, the cellular degradation increases at an exponential rate that will eventually lead to complete cellular collapse in less than four hours.
Although her second implant was sparingly used to gain access to secured excavation sights and avoid being detected by patrols. The implants were never removed, SFI having been very pleased with Lea's performance and keeping her in mind for possible future and similar missions.
So at the age of 26, following two years inside Dominion space, Lea returned to the Federation and reenrolled at Starfleet Academy after her mission debriefing. It was felt that she needed time to become reacquainted with Humanity as a whole, the influence of having spent so much time in Dominion space being very visible in her way of dealing with people.
Having already done the core level courses required by the Academy, Lea completed her Academy training in only two years at which time she was presented with the opportunity to take part in the Advanced Command Training program, an opportunity she quickly accepted.
