Pravat�s father�s father was a very powerful man in the Enaran military and was only second to the most respected leader in all of Endaran history, Pravat. He grew up on stories about his grandfather and Jareth and all the wonderful accomplishments they had achieved.
There had always been whisperings about terrible atrocities committed at the command of these two men but Pravat as well as most people had dismissed them as crazy fairytales.
This all changed when his mother fell ill. Upon her deathbed she transferred memories to Pravat that she had received from her mother and father. She told him that it was now up to him to carry on the truth and someday help bring the truth into light.
The memories that he received that day were of things he never had known about. He never really had known his mother�s parents. They lived on the Firma colony and he had visited them once in his entire life but as he relived their memories he soon discovered why they had always seemed so different.
His grandparents were what had been known as �Regressives.� They were Endarans that had resisted the direction the government had taken in its technological development. They wanted simpler lives and wanted to rely more on themselves and the land then on machines. He had been taught that they were dangerous to Endara and had been re-located many, many years ago. He was shocked by this revelation. How could he be related to Regressives?
As the memory continued he witnessed the roundup in which his grandfather and his family and friends were taken by Endaran soldiers and forced onto a transport. But his grandfather managed to slip away from the guards and eventually make it to the forest on the outside of town. It was there that his grandfather met up with a group of Regressives in hiding.
He also met the Endaran soldier who had been helping them survive. It was this soldier that had described the fate of those on the transports. They had been taken outside Endaran space and had been destroyed. The soldier, Aenes, had been so horrified when he had discovered the truth that he had turned to helping save Regressives.
Pravat experienced the pain and emotion that his grandfather had felt when he realized that he had no one left. It was in this camp that his grandfather, Wukath met his grandmother Reilia. Through Aenes, this small remnant was secretly transported to Firma where they established a refugee encampment. These would be the only survivors of the "ethnic cleansing."
It was in this encampment, Pravat learned, that his mother was born. She eventually returned to Enara Prime and met her future husband. She had not shared this story when anyone, including her husband, until she passed it on to her youngest son.
It was difficult to have this knowledge and continue his everyday tasks so finally he decided he had to tell his brothers. They would have nothing of it and even when he offered to share the memories with them they refused. A deep rift was created that has never been healed.
He found working in a military that could have been responsible for such actions was creating much internal conflict and he eventually resigned. He attempted to bring to light the truth of the murders but ended up an outcast much like the Regressives had been. He spent his time researching and studying Endaran history, trying to find irrefutable proof but the lie was too ingrained.
Finally he decided to leave Endara Prime and eventually made his way to the Alpha Quadrant. He remembered the story he had read about the Federation ship Voyager and had managed to uncover the truth behind the first contact and the severing of relations. Knowing that someone in the Federation knew the truth and had stood up for it is what inspired him to join Starfleet.
His time in Starfleet though has not brought him the solace he was hoping for. Neither did his near obsession with learning the histories of other worlds. He had hoped to find some moral oasis in the universe, somewhere where fair play and honesty and compassion for the other existed but he found that things were the same everywhere.
Earth and other Federation planets shared similar genocidal histories to his own worlds' and instead of striving for the morality he once sought, he began to backslide down that slippery slope. Deep down though, there is that desire to overcome his history and be the man his mother believed him to be.
Enarans are telepathic and can share memories, experiences and thoughts at will. They not only can they read a person�s mind but they can read a person�s past as well.
