ROGUE INTEL ORGANIZATIONS

ILLUMINATI

The Illuminati is an ancient secret organization dating back to 1792 made up of highly influential members of society who are said to manipulate all aspects of world-wide politics. Some say that the Illuminati are responsible for wars and inter-governmental conflicts as well as such splinter groups as "Majestic 12" and more recently "Section 31". Nothing official is known about this group, nor is there any tangible proof of their existence which is often referred to as being nothing more than a myth, but rumours have it that as Starfleet reached out to the stars so did the Illuminati, increasing their sphere of influence to other worlds and political circles.

NEW ALEXANDRIA

The NEW ALEXANDRIA complex is an ultra secret base of operations conceived and constructed by Admiral Charles N. Koneki, the former head of Starfleet Intelligence. Having witness the growing corruption take root both inside and outside of the Federation, the Admiral decided to use all of his influence to bring this project to life and to give the Federation a new tool to combat this unsettling trend.

ORION SYNDICATE

The Orion Syndicate is an organization created and controlled by the Orions. Though nominally a trading guild the Syndicate from its inception included among its principle activities: smuggling, piracy, slave trading, and assassinations.
During the 22nd century, the Orion Syndicate was a political entity, neighboring the Klingon Empire, near the Briar Patch, and was heavily patrolled by the Orions.
It was once believed that the female members of the Orion species ran the syndicate through a mind controling pheromone. It can be assumed that this aided their expansion as it was demonstrated to work on non-Orion species. By the 24th century, the Orion Syndicate was purely a criminal organization without political corporation, becoming an interstellar mafia operating within the borders of the United Federation of Planets. Syndicate members from species as diverse as Humans, Bolians, and Ferengi maintain influence on several independent worlds like NEW SYDNEY and FARIUS PRIME. The Syndicate even had operatives on EARTH and, for a time, in Starfleet.
If a member of the Syndicate is killed, the Syndicate is said to look after the family of the deceased, making this organization appear at times to be a very close-nit group with ideals that reach beyond the limits of the focus of the organization.

SECTION 31

This is a shadow intelligence agency operating from within the Federation and which claims to protects it from unseen threats. They are bound by no laws, they have no one to answer to, and they are convinced that they are right making them a prominent threat to the Stability of the Federation although they would claim otherwise.
For decades SFI has been trying to identify the members of this organization but to no avail hinting that they might have people believing in their methods in high level positions in not only the Federation, but Starfleet and maybe even other major governments.
