- Latvia -
- Incorporated into Russia, 1721; following World War I it was proclaimed an independent state (1918) and admitted to the League of Nations in 1922. It was proclaimed a Soviet Socialist Republic in 1940 and occupied by Germany during World War II. The USSR regained control in 1944. Latvian nationalism was overt from 1988; a coalition government was elected in 1989; it was declared independent in 1991. The Congress of Latvia was instituted and it was granted United Nations membership in 1991.

This will be about the philately from the interwar period as well as about the Postal History of Imperial Russia in the Pre- Independent Latvia.
