Belize

Belize was colonized in the 17th century by shipwrecked British sailors and disbanded soldiers from Jamaica. British Honduras was created a British colony in 1862, administered from Jamaica until 1884. The colony was given internal self-government in 1964. It's name was changed to Belize in 1973 and full independence was given in 1981.
Postage stamps have been issued for British Honduras since 1866 and Belize since 1973.
