The Apache Chief Mangas Coloradas
("Mangus Colorado") is featured on this attractive faux
postage stamp. Mangas became Chief of the Mimbres Apaches in
1863 following the death of his father (also named Mangas) at
the hands of Army troops at Pinos Altos, New Mexico. The stamp
was designed by
W.C. "Bill" Porter and manufactured by The
Olathe Poste.
