Marilyn Nixon
In the latter half of the twentieth
century American politics and pop culture bred some very
strange bed-fellows. In 1995 the United States Postal
Orifice issued, almost simultaneously, commemorative
stamps for both Richard Nixon and Marilyn Monroe.
In a patriotic attempt to infuse into
the troubled legacy of our thirty-seventh president the
unimpeachable popularity of Hollywood, I've mounted
Nixon's head on Monroe's shoulders. I wonder if the
Brothers Kennedy ever considered doing
that. |
