JCM AT MANEGE'98

Moscow artists Alexander Kholopov and Natalie Lamanova made a proposal to the organizing committee of the International Art Fair Art-Manege'98 on behalf of Jas Cyberspace Museum, to include an exhibition of artistamps from the Museum's extensive collection.   The proposal was accepted and JCM was invited to present The First Moscow Artistamp Exhibition from December 4 - 10, 1998.   JCM then invited artists from around the world to mail examples of their artistamps to Alexander and Natalie.  JCM also shipped to Moscow a selection of works from its own collection.  When the space allocation to JCM was finally determined, Natalie and Alexander made the final determination of which works would be included in the exhibit.

In early November Jas learned that he had been awarded a Canada Council Travel Grant to attend the exhibit.   Last minute arrangements were made and Jas arrived in Moscow in time to spend December 10th at Art-Manege'98, meeting many Russian artists, poets, musicians, designers, etc.

Jas is most greatful to Alexander Kholopov and Natalie Lamanova for the excellent work they did in the mounting and presentation of the exhibit, and, along with their friends and family, for being such wonderful hosts during his stay in Moscow.   More thanks go to Ksenia Bogemskaya, Art Director at Art-Manege for her support of the exhibition.  Finally, a special thanks goes to The Canada Council for the Arts for its grant, without which Jas' extrordinary personal experiences in Moscow would not have been possible.
