Step 2. Get your Ferretone ready and your ferret. Lay the ferret on its back on your lap (see picture). Sprinkle a liberal amount of Ferretone all over the lower belly of your ferret (make sure the drops are spread out so it takes the ferret awhile to clean itself off).
Step 3. Before trimming the nails look really close at the nails and notice where the pink area starts DO NOT CUT INTO THIS AREA. While Ferret licks its belly, trim the claws carefully a little at a time until short. You may have to repeat the Ferretone trick once more before you get the desired results.
Step 4. Repeat step 2-4 untill all claws are trimmed.
These are instructions to trim nails when there are at least two people.
Step 1. One person scruffs the ferret, while the other does the trimming.
Scruffing does not hurt the ferret, they will go limp like a kitten being carried by its mom. In this position you can have it closer to the light source while trimming.
Step 2. Trimming the nails this way is much faster but again have your Styptic Powder ready.
