Litter

Litter is an issue which every Ferret owner might want to consider. There are many brands and types of litter available.

Some things to watch for when buying litter are:
    1. Avoid Pine or other scented litters as these could cause serious respitory problems.
    2. Dusty litter - even the 99% dust free litter - IS still dusty - a potential hazard for the respitory system.
    3. Wood Chip bedding is not designed for ferrets.

Here are pictures of two kinds of litter on the marked. The Yesterdays News litter is available at most pet stores and Tidy Cat in most stores which also sell cat litter. Both have a very small amount of dust.

Yesterdays News is made of recycled Newspaper in which the toxins from the ptinters ink have been removed and it is then further processed into little pellets. Compared to regular cat litter Yesterdays News has a lot less dust than the 99% dust-free versions.

Tidy Cat (the clumping kind) absorbs alot of the waste odor and clumps it in on area for easy removal.
