Bedding

There are many different kind of bedding on the market, and pet stores use the throw away bedding in the bottom of the cage because they do not have a washer or dryer. It is easiest to use bedding that can be easily washed in the washing machine/by hand for the ferret.
In Fall and Winter choose warm materials like sweat shirts, towels and in Spring and Summer use light weight materials like t-shirts, jean legs and other thin but heavy-duty material. If you are good at sewing or crafting, you may want to make your own hammocks out of any material that is ferret tested, owner approved. Make sure you DO NOT USE FOAM-RUBBER or other materials your ferret would rather eat, as your ferrets bedding.
Check out these potholder pictures, made into cubes which holds easily (squeezed and folded carefully) two Ferrets.

Watch for wear and tear on the bedding at least once per week, so you can repair the damage to/or get new bedding.
Sometimes ferret like to sleep in baskets, plastic jugs, or metal containers. Offer a variety of places for ferrets to sleep in within the cage if at all possible. Boxes are nice to sleep in and when done, can be thrown away. Here is a picture of a vinegar jug, cut open so a ferret can get in and out, and there are small holes on the other end of the jug. Make sure to tie the jug to the cage so the ferret can not fall with the jug onto a lower level and get hurt.
