PowerChute Business Edition Agent can safely shutdown your Linux server in a case of a power cut

Install PowerChute Business Edition Agent

Install RPM package from the supplied CD

# rpm -ihv pbeagent-7.0.0-119.i386.rpm

Run /opt/APC/PowerChuteBusinessEdition/Agent/config.sh to configure login and information and UPS type

          Select the Signal Type

          Select the serial port

          [2]: /dev/ttyS1

          Signal Type: Smart

          Share UPS: No

          Serial Port: /dev/ttyS0

          Are the UPS settings correct? (Yes or No)

          > yes

          Start PowerChute Business Edition Agent? (Yes or No)

          > yes

          Starting PowerChute Business Edition Agent...

          PowerChute Business Edition Agent started.

The script allow you to start PowerChute automatically. However, you can also manually start PowerChute

# /etc/init.d/PBEAgent start

This agent will run on all the run level.

# chkconfig --list | grep PBEAgent

          PBEAgent                 
          0:off  1:on   2:on   3:on  
          4:on   5:on   6:off

Manage Agent

To control the agent, you need a PowerChute server, and a PowerChute console on Windows PC.
From the console, add your Linux server into the PowerChute console,
