What Love Is
You think you know what love is
Upon your wedding day;
But you have far, have far to go
Before Love s Name you say
When you have laboured without rest
You will begin to see-
Love s reach must grow and stand the test
Of wealth and poverty.
Only when love departs from you,
And your tears fall on the ground,
Will you know at last what love can mean,
And its height and depth profound.
But then, a greater Love may come
And make little of your tears;
Then you will rise with matchless strength
And not regret the years.
